Clinical goal

Increase efficacy, avoid adverse events.

Pharmacogenomics is the study of how one’s genes

can affect patient’s response to drugs.

By knowing a patient’s genetic profile for key metabolic pathways the clinician is able to more confidently proceed with prescribing needed medications and pre-emptively avoid life threatening adverse drug reactions (ADRs).
